Me & Paul Wall Still On It

06.27.10 | 7:16 am

So A few weeks ago I got the call from the label saying that a song I did w/ Paul made his new album “Heart of a Champion”. So I was initially stoked about just being on another Paul Wall project.

But about a week after that I got a call from Paul saying that it had potential to be the next single dropped. So when we decided that’s what it was gonna be. I turned Paul and his label on to my close friend, the hottest young film director in L.A. period, Murray Mile. And the rest is pretty much history, next thing me and boy A.B. on the plane to LAX.

Big thanks to Eddie of BeeMac Films, Jamee of Lution Media, The whole Expensive Taste fam Johnny Dang, C.Stone and the entire crew for making this video possible.

Keys and Ink Recording Studios

05.14.10 | 12:07 am

I’m so ecstatic and recognize how much God has favored me with the opportunity to open up my own recording facility. You never know God’s agenda and how he will place certain people in your life. This weekend is a day I’ve been planning, praying and sewing into for the last 2 months and I’m so excited with the outcome of my vision. I’m giving an open invitation to all industry musicians and execs.

Thank you so much to my business partner Artroz for believing in me, seeing my dedication & hard work. Also this will be a celebration for Black Stripes Multimedia which is in the same building.

This has been a huge investment for me but one thing I’ve learned from this experience is… If you think you can, you can…And if you think you cant, you’re right. God specializes in the impossible.

Working w/ nipsey hussle

05.03.10 | 12:08 pm

After multiple convos/meetings in New York with Johnny Shipes [Owner of Cinematic/Nipsey's Co-Label] me and Nipsey finally got a chance to meet and work. We chopped it up @ his SF2 mixer the day prior to this session trying to figure out where we could set up studio time…Due to the new Keys and Ink Recording Studios being under construction. I thought to myself… Mannnn, Nipsey’s finally in my city ready to work and its NOT gonna happen. Smh.

At the last minute I got a text from Necronam of Keys and Ink @ 8am saying we have a spot for 2 o’clock to play some stuff for Nips. Next thing I knew we were all in the lab working making classics.

Atlanta’s WNBA Allstars

03.23.10 | 3:14 pm

Another great trip to Atlanta, this was Jazze and Vawn & Greedy’s 1st time ever meeting my artist Miss Mykie. I always talk about her so this time i decided to bring her down. We ended up putting her to work before she left. This particular clip is from our 2nd day in the studio. We were writing and cutting a reference record for a group called Crave for a WNBA theme song. As you can see Jazze wild’n out at the end trying to get a feeling of being in a stadium. “Ladies and Gentlemen, The WNBA Allstars…” lol [ Good Times ]

I also got a chance to meet Patrick aka Guitar Boy who has played and co-produced on tracks w/ R. Kelly, Trey Songs, Jennifer Hudson and so many more. Also in the building was a dope upcoming keyboardist/producer Johnny Bravo. Its always awesome to be in the mist of so much talent, it rubs off easily.

Yezzzzir! Whitney Houston, Lil Wayne, Beyonce, Plies, Rick Ross, Jay-Z, Yung Berg, Paul Wall, Keyshia Cole, Snoop Dogg, Ludacris etc….The list goes onnnn. The Keys and Ink click placement list is solid w/ so much more to come. Thus far the team consist of Myself (Producer/Songwriter), Mateo Amarei (Writer), G. 4 Flats On An Elevator

02.27.10 | 5:37 am

Today I was in the studio with Day 26’s Brian Angel. During this blog he’s trying to reframe his self from saying what he told me during the session about my talent on camera…but I’m sure you know what time it is. This dude has to be one of the most dopest vocalist I’ve ever worked with in the studio. He’s range is amazing and pretty much anything I think up in my head and sing to him, he can sing it back a million times better.

After the session Brian, Will and I hung out at Pravada for a second, where they were hosting an event. Slim Thug showed up to show love and it was an overall very productive evening. Big ups to Mas Beatz and the whole Keys and Ink click. Its about to get u-g-l-y

Atlantic Records in L.A.

02.15.10 | 1:49 pm

Its my fifth day in L.A. and I’ve already gotten so much accomplished. Today happens to be the day of the Grammy’s and though I was invited and received tickets, I made an oath to myself that I wouldn’t attend the actual award ceremony until I was nominated. So while I awaited the closure of the awards I decided to make the day productive and set up a meeting with Atlantic Records. Soon as I walked into the Warner building to sign in I ran into Mike Jackson from EMI Publishing so we got a chance to chat as well about my Keys and Ink organization. Big ups to my A&R homie Raj, Byron Wright from BMI, Sateesh, Cory, Hanif and Regina for recognizing my grind and acknowledging my creativity.
